Meet the Americans - Quarterback

Over the next few weeks, I'd like to introduce the country to its representatives in the IFAF World Cup. For the first installment, we'll look at the glamour position ... the quarterback.

Jeff Ballard, TCU (Division I-A)
Measurables: 6-feet 1 inch, 212 lbs.
Hometown: Friendsworth, Texas
Born: November 4, 1983
Stats: 329-for-539 (61%), 4,190 yards, 27 TD, 12 INT

Ballard took over the reins at Texas Christian in 2005, leading the Horned Frogs to a 51-50 overtime victory over conference rival Brigham Young. TCU would not lose under Ballard in 2005, as he led his school to nine straight victories, including a 27-24 win over Iowa State in the EV1.net Houston Bowl.

In 2006, Ballard extended his winning streak as a starter to 12 games before his Horned Frogs were bested by the Brigham Young Cougars, 31-17. In total, Ballard went 20-2 as a starter at TCU, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 27 touchdowns against just 12 interceptions.

Rocky Pentello, Capital (Division III)
Hometown: Columbus, Ohio
Born:
Stats: 64% completion rate, 12,569 yards, 36 TD

In 2006, Pentello led Division III football with 3,625 passing yards. As the four-year starter at Capital, Pentello compiled a 36-11 record and has thrown for 12,569 yards in his career, ranking him the 12th-highest in college football history.

Adam Austin, Arizona (Division I-A)
Measurables: 6 feet 3 inches, 217 lbs.
Hometown: Mundelein, Illinois
Born: November 20, 1983
Stats: 55-for-116 (47%), 549 yards, 2 TD, 6 INT

Austin split time in the desert in 2006, but in his six games of action, he only completed over 50 percent of his throws once, a 6-for-9 performance against hapless Stanford.

do you know if the world cup will be televised in the US? I doubt it. but that would be cool if it was.

This is the stupidest idea I ever heard. It's called "American" football. This isn't even a real national team because it's made up of scrubs who couldn't even make it to the NFL.

We all know America is the best at american football so why not just have other countries compete in the World Cup?

The reason for doing this is precisely that America is clearly the best at the sport.

If America ignores this competition, then a vital opportunity to expand the popularity of the game will have been lost. On the other hand, sending the Indianapolis Colts would demoralize and discourage other countries from taking up the game (not to mention send the competition home in body bags).

98% of collegiate football players do not make the NFL. That does not make them scrubs.

So why no update about this for a month? Is this still going on. Any chance of getting some highlights on YouTube?

I think the first poster is wishfully thinking to expect to see this on tv.

I've been busy. It's still going on. Team USA now has its own webpage, which is linked in the top right.
