Canada may be number 1, but the US is clearly the better country
These ratings are a sham. Japan is No. 1, and we beat them at the Todoroki. Senseless to still have them at the top.

It's not senseless. The Florida Marlins are undefeated in World Series play and beat the Yankees in the latter one, yet no one would rank them all-time ahead of the Yankees.
We all know America has more football talent than Japan, but they simply hadn't played enough in international competition at the point of these rankings to leap Japan. With the completion of the Junior World Championship, this is all moot now anyway.
If you look at the way these sorts of rankings work in other sports, the sort of phenomenon you saw in the 2008 rankings is not uncommon.
